Quote of the Day

Barack Obama’s ability to spin words and seem to be everything to everyone is running smack into an unprecedented role for him: executive responsibility.

-- Thomas Lifson

So anyway...

I went out on a short drive in the country this morning. Saw all sorts of cows in the pastures with their newborn calves. And of course the aroma of freshly dropped Marxist doctrine was in the air. Drove through a college town too.

Blast From The Past

"Let it be asked how any person wholly devoid of talent, skill, accomplishment, wit, beauty, charm, or even the practical ability to earn a living by routine labor, can conceivably become an object of flattering, greeted with applause and given a hearing for the feeblest inanities -- obviously nothing will serve except political position."

-- Isabel Paterson, The God of the Machine (1943)

We should consider ourselves fortunate that The Big Zero is actually a mere mortal who is only deified by the press and some of his supporters. The alternative is much worse.

Archie finally chooses

Here is the news straight from Archie Comics.

Starting with issue #600, there will be a six part story titled "Archie marries Veronica."
Issue #600 is part one, "The Proposal."

The cover art shows Betty standing outside the jewelry store, where Archie is on one knee and Veronica is saying "Yes!". Betty is clearly crying and yes, you Hooper X fans out there, Jughead is outside too and he looks a little broken up.

Someone Else's Thought For The Day

"When the word leader, or leadership, returns to current use, it connotes a relapse into barbarism. For a civilized people, it is the most ominous word in any language."

-- Isabel Paterson, The God of the Machine. (1943)

A Memorial Day special Monday Book Pick. If you have seen the series and haven’t read the book, do so. There is a lot of detail that didn’t make it to the screen. This book follows Easy Company, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne, from their initial training to the unit’s deactivation in November 1945. The Normande landings on D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, and more.

What is it with Obama and Hookers?

First it was $2.6 Million US tax dollars to Train Chinese Prostitutes.
Now it’s $178,000 US Tax Dollars to study prostitutes in Thailand.

David Williams, vice president for policy at Citizens Against Government Waste is correct in his assessment of this latest study, “This really is a complete waste of money and should not be funded by the taxpayer.”

On the other hand, Barry could just be doing some research on places he plans on visiting in his role as our Dear Leader. According the comedian Jay Mohr, we shouldn’t blame him for looking for something on the side.

The political theater of the absurd

How else do you describe our Dear Leader going on TV with the Tax Cheat he put in charge of the US Treasury Department, so they could describe how they are going after offshore tax havens?

I don't give this good odds of getting through Congress. It's a fairly safe bet that a majority of the Senate and good chunk of the House have some of their own money sheltered from US taxes in those offshore tax havens. I'm pretty sure both of my Senators, the convicted felon and the admitted war criminal, are avoiding their fair share of taxes that way.

The Secret of Building Twitter Followers

If you are on twitter, odds are that you have had multiple people follow you who claim to be able to grow your follower list.

Here is the key secret to growing followers that they won't tell you.

Post tweets that people want to read.

Start there. The rest will follow.

Oh, ya. Making your icon a picture of a hot woman helps too. :-) It works even better if it an actual picture of you.

Filming in the Arctic

I watched Stargate:Continuum last night. The coolest part was the extra feature about filming on the Arctic ice pack in Northern Alaska.
