A plan to survive the Obama years

By way of Marathon Pundit, is Z. Dwight Billingsly's plan to survive the Barack H. Obama years.

I'm going to approach the Obama years the same way liberals handled the Iraq war. Just as they claimed to support our troops while opposing the war, I'm going to support my country while opposing Obama and what he stands for in every way that I can. It's only four years and with the astute Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky as Senate minority leader, Republicans can stop the Obama extremists for two years until mid-term elections in 2010 give Republicans the boost in Congress that inevitably will come.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

Sunday morning quotes

"You socialists only have one rebuttal to the argument that socialism has been tried and failed miserably; it's the same one an abused wife might hear from the drunken monster that blackened her eye: 'It'll be different this time, I swear!'"

"Any measure that establishes legal charity on a permanent basis and gives it an administrative form thereby creates an idle and lazy class, living at the expense of the industrial and working class." -- Alexis de Tocqueville

"I am deeply convinced that any permanent, regular administrative system whose aim is to provide for the needs of the poor will breed more miseries than it can cure, will deprave the population that it wants to help and comfort, will dry up the sources of savings, will stop the accumulation of capital, will retard the development of trade, and will benumb human industry." -- Alexis de Tocqueville

"And quit bringing up our forefathers and saying they were Civil Libertarians . . . they were blowing people's heads off because they put a tax on their breakfast beverage -- and it wasn't even coffee." -- Dennis Miller

"With Albright at the helm of the State Department, Osama bin Laden ran wild throughout the Middle East, the North Koreans began feverishly building nukes under her nose, and we staged a pre-emptive attack solely for purposes of regime change based on false information presented to the American people by Albright about a world leader who was not an imminent threat to the United States. Slobodan Milosevic wasn't even a latent, long-term, hypothetical threat. " -- Ann Coulter

Expecting the mainstream media to exercise responsibility and integrity is like expecting a trout to perform calculus

democrats: The party of Spin, Posturing, Demonization, Fear Mongering, Racial Division & Class Warfare

"Washington is the only place in the world where a gaffe is when a politician accidently speaks the truth." -- Charles Krauthammer

"A liberal is a person who sees a fourteen-year-old girl performing sex acts onstage and wonders if she's being paid minimum wage." -- Irving Kristol

"If we have to use force, it is because we are American. We are the indispensable nation. We stand tall. We see further into the future." -- Madeleine Albright in 1998, when she was Bill Clinton's Secretary of State.

Foxes guarding the henhouse

Robert Scheer correctly points out that is exactly what is happening with Obama's picks.

...Obama had put his seal of approval on the
Citigroup bailout, which his new economic team, led by proteges of Citigroup Executive Committee Chairman Robert Rubin, enthusiastically endorsed. A bailout that brings to $45 billion the taxpayer money thrown at Citigroup and the guarantee of $306 billion for the bank's "toxic securities" that would have been illegal if not for changes in the law that Citigroup secured with the decisive help of Rubin and Lawrence Summers, the man who replaced him as treasury secretary in the Clinton administration.

As Summers stayed on to ensure passage of deregulatory laws that enabled enormous banking greed, Rubin was rewarded with a $15-million-a-year executive position at Citigroup, a job that only got more lucrative as the bank went from one disaster, beginning with its involvement with Enron in which Rubin played an active role, to its huge role in the mortgage debacle.
...
As opposed to the far tougher deal negotiated on the bailout of AIG, the arrangement with Citigroup leaves the executives, including Rubin, who brought Citigroup to the brink of ruin, still in charge. Nor is there any guarantee of the value of the mortgage bundles that taxpayers will be guaranteeing. That is because, as candidate Obama clearly stated in his major economics address back in March, the deregulation pushed though during the Clinton years ended transparency in banking.

Why then has he appointed the very people responsible for this disaster to now make it all better?

About that Global Warming thing...

As I've said before, I'm a big fan of Global Warming.
Weather Channel co-founder Joseph D’Aleo and other scientists are not.

Armed with statistics from the Goddard Institute for Space Studies and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climate Data Center, D’Aleo reported in the 2009 Old Farmer’s Almanac that the U.S. annual mean temperature has fluctuated for decades and has only risen 0.21 degrees since 1930 — which he says is caused by fluctuating solar activity levels and ocean temperatures, not carbon emissions.

Data from the same source shows that during five of the past seven decades, including this one, average U.S. temperatures have gone down. And the almanac predicted that the next year will see a period of cooling.

HT to Ed Morrissey at Hot Air, who notes:
The global-warming movement exists to provide cover for statists who demand central control over energy production. That’s an inconvenient truth that has begun to emerge as global temperatures fail to meet expectations of increase. Rather than admit that more research is needed, global-warming activists have increased the hysterical tone of their efforts, demanding immediate action and giving dire predictions of catastrophe without it.
...
Over 31,000 scientists have now signed onto the Global Warming Petition Project, demanding more skepticism and a return to scientific inquiry into climate change rather than political propaganda. They face an uphill battle in convincing the beneficiaries of research dollars from Washington to risk their funding by acting like scientists.

If you vote this election, you'll know exactly who (and what) you'll be voting for.

You're likely to have strong opinions, and you have the facts to back them up.

Crunchy Pulp Goodness with The Rocketeer!

Obama already disappointing his supporters

According to the Washington Times, one of first group of his supporters he intends to turn his back is the homosexual community.

President-elect Barack Obama will not move for months, and perhaps not until 2010, to ask Congress to end the military's decades-old ban on open homosexuals in the ranks, two people who have advised the Obama transition team on this issue say.

Repealing the ban was an Obama campaign promise.

Sorry guys and gals, you won't be able to serve your country as other patriotic Americans, who just happen to be hetrosexual, openly just yet. Our Dear Leader has other plans.

Just to keep things straight, there have always been homosexuals in the American military. There were probably fellows at Valley Forge who were doing more than just "sharing body warmth" over that cold winter. That our Dear Leader won't address this right off if a kick in the teeth to one of his core groups of supporters.

As that Icon of Conservatism Senator Barry Goldwater said, "You don't have to be straight to shoot straight."

Global Warming Cultists: A reality free zone

You see quotes like this, "especially with the world finally seeing the effects of global warming", in regards to "carbon emissions" and you have to wonder what reality these people are tuning into?

Earth to cultist! It hasn't been getting any warmer on a global scale for the past decade!

We haven't even seen swings in climate lately that we have in fairly recent (on a global scale) history. Such as wheat grown on Greenland or the Thames freezing solid for months.

Climate change happens. It's a naturally occurring process. Given that one of the most common weather patterns for a good chunk of North America is to be under hundreds, or even thousands, of meters of glacial ice, I say bring on the "Global Warming!" Those who pay attention to such matters prefer that to "Global Cooling."

The seas rise a few meters and the Kennedy Compound submerges, along with Streisand's mansion. Big Whoop. Temps drop a handful or two of degrees Celsius and we loose a lot of farmland.

Speaking of Kyoto

It seems that the reality of the Kyoto Protocols being a socialist Ponzi scheme is hitting home in Europe.

Italy and Germany agree that measures to cut greenhouse gases shouldn't weigh on the economy, Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel said at a press conference Tuesday, indicating government support for tough new measures in Europe is waning.
Any new European Union decisions on climate change and energy "must be taken in such a way as to not weigh on industry"

How Barack Hussein Obama got elected

More details over at Hot Air:

  • 57.4 could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)
  • 81.8 could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)
  • 82.6 could NOT correctly say that Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)
  • 88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)
  • 56.1 % could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing). And yet…..
  • Only 13.7% failed to identify Palin as the person their party spent $150,000 in clothes on
  • Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter
  • And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her “house,” even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!

So, as I pointed out before, the democrats were able to get a message of hate and fear out, but not their agenda. My theory is that liberal democrats really don't want people to really think about their agenda before they vote.

The utter cluelessness of these Obama supporters is rather scary. It also could spell trouble for Obama. When he starts doing what he said he would do, his supporters will be upset that he isn't doing what they thought he would do.

Keep in mind that these are not just carefully selected clips to make Obama supporters look foolish, they are accurate representative samples as shown by polling.

Update: by way of Instapundit, "It’s worth noting that the Obama voters in Zogby’s sample were 97 percent high school graduates and–rather shockingly–55 percent college graduates. It’s almost enough to make you wonder about the future of democracy."

Flaming Rocket Balls!

A new, way cool, weapon for taking out hardened WMD bunkers.

The Pentagon has a new secret weapon to neutralize sites containing chemical or biological weapons: rocket balls. These are hollow spheres, made of rubberized rocket fuel; when ignited, they propel themselves around at random at high speed, bouncing off the walls and breaking through doors, turning the entire building into an inferno. The makers call them "kinetic fireball incendiaries." The Pentagon doesn't want to talk about them, but published documents show that the fireballs have undergone tests on underground bunkers.
...Smaller fireball payloads have been suggested for shoulder-fired rockets and grenades for tactical use. The DTRA is known to be interested in a payload for the 84mm SMAW rocket launcher for agent defeat; at present, ground forces have no tactical options for dealing with a suspected chemical/biological lab operated by terrorists or others.

An honest democrat

Jersey City Councilman Steven Lipski, a democrat, was arrested for urinating on a crowd of revelers at a Washington D.C. nightclub.

As Mike at Cold Fury points out, this is nothing new. The democrats have been pissing on the public for years. Lipski, a known alcoholic, refuses to admit he was drinking at the time.

Hell, I'm willing to spot him that he was cold stone sober, and was having an actual moment of clear thinking clarity and decide to demonstrate the reality of his policies.

Meanwhile, in California

While there is some whining from the Right over the election of the "Dear Leader", most have managed to man up over it and admit they got their ass kicked deservedly and are trying to figure out a way to come back.

Such dignity appears to be lacking among a certain liberal democrat constituency out in California.

The homosexual community is outraged over the failure of Prop 8 at the ballot box. As a libertarian, the idea of a civil contract regulated by the State (which is what "marriage" is in this country) being restricted by gender or number of participants is unconstitutional. It's also stealing the food off divorce lawyer's tables. Personally, I'm more worked up over the failure of our constitutional republic (i.e. electing a Socialist to the highest executive office) than California divorce lawyers being forced to hang on to last year's BMW instead of getting a new one. That's just me though.

Some members of the homosexual community in California apparently views not being able to register for wedding gifts on par with the KKK lynching blacks for wanting firearms to shoot back when "invited to a necktie party."

AoSHQ discusses their upcoming agenda:

(1) Push for churches to lose their tax-exempt status.
(2) Call blacks the n-word.
(3) Harass Mormons.
(4) Equate opposition to gay marriage with bigotry.

Ok, so we have direct assault on the Constitution, plus racial and religious bigotry. Way to stay classy!

I think its probably pretty safe to say the Muslim population in California voted the same way most of the Mormons did. So when are the protests at radical Mosques going to start?

If Obama shows up, are you going to scream "N*gger!" at him also?

Look at the numbers folks, Prop 8 lost because a lot of Californians who voted for "The Lightgiver" also voted against homosexual marriage. The idea doesn't poll well with blacks, hispanics or Roman Catholics (and many other Christian churches). How about mending fences in your own house before attacking the Mormon church? Instead of blind rage and violence, how about regrouping and planning, getting out and educating instead of spewing hate?

Just remember the words of Scarlet O'Hara folks, and as much as it may pain you to do so, take a look at what the Republican party is doing, and try to follow their example.

Update: Ann Althouse correctly identifies this "terrible idea" as fighting "hate with hate."

Update: Andrew Breitbart catches up with me and Challenges Radical Gays to Protest a Mosque

Friday's B-Movie Pick, a couple of days late

Kill Bill, Volume 1.

A wild ride of roaring rampage revenge with a really cool soundtrack.

The Friday B-Movie List.

On the election

The Republicans got their ass kicked, and they deserved it.
The Republican party spent the last eight years kicking their conservative base, and any Libertarians who were leaning toward them, in the teeth.
You can say a lot of things about GW Bush, calling him a fiscal Conservative isn't one of them.

Given that, John McCain got 48% of the popular vote. Remember kids, Bill Clinton at his best, never got more than 48%.

One of the key reason the Republicans got that much is Gov. Sarah Palin.
She appealed to the Conservative base in a way that Senator McCain could not.

One of the best indicators of how popular Gov. Palin (the most popular governor in America) is with the conservative base, is how much effort the DNC/MSM spent on trying to discredit her.

Personally, I think Sen. Stevens should resign, and Gov. Palin should take his seat.

The 2012 race has already started for Republicans. Before we close the book on the 2008 election, let us remember that Barak Obama barely got over 50% of the vote. That is no mandate. The US electorate is still deeply divided. Despite this, the Reid, Obama & Pelosi triumvirate will try to ram an extreme far left political agenda down the throats of a divided American people. It is the duty of the Republican minority to oppose that agenda with every means possible. In other words, they should give Obama all the support the democrats gave President George W. Bush.

Obama Cabinet picks

I'll throw a few out.

John Kerry as Sec. State. He's too hawkish for Sec. of Defense in an Obama administration.

Bill Ayers as either Sec. of Education or Attorney General.

Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. and Peoples Republic of Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick will probably end up in his administration somewhere.

Meanwhile, let us not forget Chris Dodd

The democrat Senator still hasn't answered questions about his sweetheart deals from the subprime mortgage giant Countrywide.

As the Democrats moved toward victory at the end of October, a story by NBC's Lisa Myers set Dodd apart from his triumphant fellow Democrats. Myers reported that federal agents are investigating the notorious "Friends of Angelo" list maintained by subprime mortgage giant Countrywide Financial's co-founder Angelo Mozilo. Dodd was the most prominent member of that exclusive club.

Since the Dodd story broke in June, the five-term senator has offered contradictory fragments of explanations and intentions. Scheherazade after a six-pack of Red Bull would not have told more desperate tales. Dodd gallops the gamut from calling the allegations of special treatment "outrageous" to pledging repeatedly and specifically to release documents related to the $800,000 in sweetheart deals he got from Countrywide.

Still claiming "there's nothing there," Dodd refuses to say whether his Senate campaign committee's payments of $60,000 last summer to a Washington law firm, which has a history of representing Democratic senators in trouble, were for his defense in the Senate ethics investigation of his dealings with Countrywide.

The Honeymoon is over

The supporters of the "Lightgiver" wants their "Hope and Change" and they want it now.

Peggy wants Barack to make her mortgage go away and pay for her gas.

The Watermelons want Barak to make the evil coal and nuclear plants go away.

Barack's "volunteer" get out the vote workers want their money, and they want it now!.

The 95% of American workers you promised a tax cut to want their money too. Especially the 40% who don't pay any federal income tax! (...and some of them are in for a surprise when Barak and the democrats in control of congress kill the GW Bush across the board tax cuts and they find themselves paying federal income tax again.)

Reality check. How are you going to pay for this? Congressman Barney Frank (democrat) and his buddies "rolled the dice" on the US economy and rolled snake eyes.

Let's take a look at that first step toward "Hope and Change", the selection of Clintonite Rahm Emanuel as your chief of staff. Another former Clintonite Paul Begala, a smart guy, and utter and complete lying weasel, but a smart guy, calls Enamuel's style a "cross between a hemorrhoid and a toothache."

Barak is already trying to lower expectations, but somehow I don't see the far left, some of which view him as an "enlightened being" (I shit you not), being very "tolerant" when he doesn't deliver up to their expectations.

It's getting ugly in Philadelphia early

Republican election Board members are being kicked out of polling stations in violation of the law.

HT to Election Journal.

Election Day repost: Choose Wisely

The words of Bandit Six:

So every four years we elect a king. Since people like consistency, we tend to elect the same king as many times as we can get away with. (See previous paragraph.) And the king, especially in any sort of emergency, has a lot of power. They don’t always, or even most of the time, have enough to fix things right away. But they’ve got a lot of power.
Including the power to totally screw things up.

For the kids reading this, this is a very important point. When you choose your king, forget most of the reasons you think you should vote for the king. Mostly, the king can’t do much about the economy but ruin it. They can’t make you richer or smarter (although they can manage the reverse). If you want one suggestion, think about all the contingencies under which that king (or queen in this case) may hold your lives in his or her hands. And choose wisely.

How ACORN fake registrations turn into illegal votes

John Fund at Politico explains.

Anita MonCrief, an ACORN whistle-blower who worked for both it and its Project Vote registration affiliate from 2005 until early this year, agrees. "It's ludicrous to say that fake registrations can't become fraudulent votes," she told me. "I assure you that if you can get them on the rolls you can get them to vote, especially using absentee ballots." MonCrief, a 29-year old University of Alabama graduate who wanted to become part of the civil rights movement, worked as a strategic consultant for ACORN as well as a development associate with Project Vote and sat in on meetings with the national staffs of both groups. She has given me documents that back up many of her statements, including one that indicates that the goal of ACORN's New Mexico affiliate was that only 40 percent of its submitted registrations had to be valid.

MonCrief also told me that some ACORN affiliates had a conscious strategy of flooding voter registration offices with suspect last-minute forms in part to create confusion and chaos that would make it more likely suspect voters would be allowed to cast ballots by overworked officials.
...
There are already documented examples of fraudulent registrations being converted into fraudulent votes in Ohio, where ACORN and other groups were active. Darrell Nash, an ACORN registration worker, submitted an illegal form for himself and then cast a paper ballot during the state's "early voting" period.

Franklin County prosecutor Ron O'Brien also cracked down in the case of 13 out-of-state registrants who came to Ohio to register voters in Columbus for the group Vote From Home. The group all lived out of the same rented 1,175-square-foot house in Ohio, registered to vote and then most of them either cast early voting ballots or submitted applications for absentee ballots before leaving the state. They have agreed to have all of their ballots canceled in exchange for the prosecutor's decision not to file charges.

There is no question to where these illegal votes are going. The ties between ACORN and Barak Obama are strong and go back to his days as a "community organizer." Remember that Barack Obama himself has given instruction to ACORN on "get out the vote" techniques. His campaign has also given ACORN $800,000 in this election cycle for "get out the vote" work.

Barak Obama is willing to kill a major source of domestic energy

Scary, but true. NewBusters has the audio.
In Barack Obama's own words:

Let me sort of describe my overall policy.

What I've said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else's out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.

So Barack Obama plans to bankrupt a major US industry, and deliver a deadly blow to American energy independence. That is what you can expect from an Obama administration.

Update: The San Francisco Chronicle has had this story since January of this year! That they sat one this for this long is just another nail in the coffin of the MSM/DNC being completely and utterly in the tank for Barak Obama.

Gov. Sarah Palin, who has a very impressive resume on energy issues is correctly taking Barak Obama to task on this.

A successful campaign of fear

The democrats have done something they are very good at. Vicious attack smear campaigns. In this case, they have managed to successfully smear the most popular governor in America, with a strong history of executive experience, fighting corruption and implementing actual real change, as a scary, inexperienced and unintelligent danger.

When you compare resumes, the bottom of the Republican ticket, Gov. Sarah Palin beats the top of the democrat ticket across the board.

Gov. Palin has a strong history of success in government, while Barak Hussein Obama has a history of voting present while representing a district with out of control crime and corruption.

Good job with spreading fear and hate democrats. Thanks for giving us a preview of the strong points of an Obama administration.

Why is this race so close?

The national polls are swinging back and forth and both traditional Republican and democrat states are in play.

Let's review a few facts.

We are finishing up the second term of an unpopular Republican president.
Barack Obama, by breaking his written word on taking public financing and accepting obvious credit card fraud, has managed to massively overspend his Republican opponent, John McCain.
The vast majority of the MSM is clearly and deeply in the tank for Barak Obama.
Polls have historically favored the democrat by at least 5 to 10%.

Given all that, why isn't Barack Obama leading in the polls by at least 20%?

Could it be that he really is an unexperienced empty suit straight out of the massively corrupt Chicago democrat political machine?
Could it be that people are noticing his economic policies are the same that deepened and lengthened the Great Depression?
People are starting to notice that the Truth just isn't in Barak Obama?
Could it be that people are starting to question Barack Obama's judgement in his selection of associates?
