Liberals have trouble with actual facts

Ann Althouse points out that liberal columnist Maureen Dowd got quite a number of simple facts wrong

If Quayle was a "fun, bantamweight cheerleader from the West," then Obama must be too. Illinois -- for the geographically challenged -- is one notch west of Indiana. And Quayle was a second term Senator when he was picked for VP in 1988 And he'd been in Congress since 1976.

About that experience thing...

As I pointed out, it is extreme hypocrisy for democrats who support Barak H. Obama for President and Leader of the Free World, to claim that Gov. Sarah Palin lacks the experience to be Vice-President.

Red State has a good comparison of their experience.
Here are some highlights:

Previous Public Jobs
Gov Palin:

Mayor of Wasilla, AK (1996-2002); President of Alaska Conference of Mayors;

City Council member (1992-1996)

Barak Obama

State Senator (1997-2004);

Community Organizer

Executive Experience
Gov. Palin

Governor for 2 years;

Mayor for 10 years

Barak Obama

Foreign Relations experience
Gov. Palin

Governor of state that borders two foreign countries (Canada and Russia)

Barak Obama

Chaired Senate subcommittee on Europe but never called it into session;

once gave a speech to 200,000 screaming Germans

Gov. Palin

Change and Clean Government

Barak Obama

Hope and Change;

"Bringing Change from Outside Washington"

What they've done to live that theme:
Gov. Palin

Replaced entire Board of Agriculture and Conservation because of conflict of interest;

Resigned from position of Ethics Commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in order to expose corruption among members of own party

Barak Obama
Selected 36-year incumbent Senator as running mate

There is much more, go read the whole thing.

On a lighter note, The Daily Show has an Obama bio video.

Hypocrisy so thick you can cut it with a knife

Nobody should be surprised by this, hypocrisy is SOP for the far left extremists democrats.

They are shoveling it extra deep when Obama supporting democrats whine that Gov. Sarah Palin doesn't have enough experience to be on the ticket as Vice-President.

The Atlantic reports that Obama spokesman Bill Burton is playing that card. To make it better, he deliberately leaves out that Sarah Palin is a Governor! The Obamabots don't want to admit that Gov. Palin has actual executive experience. Something that Barry doesn't have any of.

Ed Morrissey points out that Gov. Palin's foreign policy experience trumps that of Barak H. Obama as well!

If the democrats are complaining that Gov. Sarah Palin doesn't have enough experience to be Vice-President, they should look long and hard at the even less experienced man they just nominated for President.

McCain picks Palin as running mate

Back in mid-July, I said that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was choice I could support.

She is a hunter (lifetime NRA member), hockey mom, fisher, has admitted pot smoking, snowmobiles, owns a float plane, and is a former state basketball champion. Plus she was also a hometown beauty pageant winner.

[...] she is a libertarian leaning conservative, with impeccable credentials.

Works for me.

She also would be a good draw for Ron Paul, and other libertarian supporters (sorry Bob Barr). She also might bring in PUMAs and other Hillary supporters who feel disenfranchised by the democrat party.

McCain/Palin sounds like a winning ticket to me.

Given that Joe Biden has been give the role of "Junk Yard Attack Dog" in the Obama campaign, it will be interesting to see him try to rip into her.

Gov. Palin's oldest son is in the US Army and is set to be deployed to Iraq in next month.
One of Senator McCain's sons is a US Marine and is already serving in Iraq.

Update: Oh ya, so there is a woman on the ticket this election. She isn't Hillary Rodham Clinton though. I fear for the lamps in HRC's hotel room.

Even more stuff!

Reality verses Rhetoric

HT to Hot Air, who points out:

In fact, does anyone know where this notion of Barack Obama as a great post-partisan healer arose? In his brief stroll across the political stage, Obama has never taken a risk by standing up to the vested interests of his party or the Chicago political machine. He has done nothing to press the unions, lawyers, abortion lobby, or any of the other struts in the Democratic Party for moderation or reform.

What else did Biden get wrong

Add to the list his plan to break up Iraq.

My tweets on Obama's speech

Obama's speech is remarkably short on details. No change there.

Obama wants to cut taxes and increase spending. Isn't that a third GW Bush term?

I'm betting that my billionaire senator will still pay a 12% federal tax rate under Obama.

Obama just mentioned Senator McCain and debating. Why has Obama run from multiple debate offers?

@lesliecarbone If he "invests" anything in his brother, it will be with your tax dollars.

Obama is going to "defend" America by slashing defense spending. http://tinyurl.com/684e4a

"President Obama" is Putin's wet dream.

@lesliecarbone Obama doesn't want to talk about the 60s, so don't bring up Ayers or the Bay of Pigs or you will be called a racist.

Obama's policies are old school Socialism. No Hope or Change there.

Obama gives a good speech, but he's no Clinton and is not as good at unscripted responses as Senator McCain.

Does Obama actually know how many crimes are committed using an actual AK-47 in America?

Does anyone think a democrat congress will let Obama cut spending in their districts?

Obama plans to raise taxes on those who already pay most of the taxes. He'll use that to buy votes from the other 95%.

Senator McCain's ads tonight showed a lot of class.

Biden got it backwards

Rob points out that Biden was dead wrong in his speech last night.

I got to thinking about that line and I began to wonder: What, exactly, has Obama been right about and McCain been wrong about?

It’s sort of hard to compare the two Senators because one has been in the Senate for decades and the other hasn’t even been there for a full term yet, but there is one major issue we can compare the two on: Iraq. And in that comparison it’s actually McCain that comes out on top.

Think about it. Obama declared the war lost over a year ago. He opposed the surge saying that it not only wouldn’t work but that it would also make conditions in Iraq worse. In the primaries, when Obama was campaigning against fellow Democrats who had voted in favor the war (like Hillary Clinton and, ahem, Joe Biden) he made a big deal about opposing the war from day one and ending the war as soon as possible upon entering office.

He was wrong about all of that. The war in Iraq has not been lost. In fact, we’re now all but victorious in the conflict. The surge strategy didn’t make things worse in Iraq. Instead it was a rousing success. And had Obama gotten his way and we’d given up on Iraq back when he wanted to we wouldn’t be seeing the victory in the war we’re seeing now.

McCain, on the other hand (and for all his faults on other issues), has been largely right on the war. He supported the surge. He’s opposed Democrat defeatism. Even when things looked dark in Iraq he didn’t abandon his position on the war even though, at the time, it might have been politically convenient.

In short, on Iraq, Obama was dead wrong and McCain was right.

MSM hiding economic growth

Since what is good for America is bad for democrats, the DNC/MSM is burying news of economic growth. News like:

According to an update to the second-quarter gross domestic product report released by the government Thursday, the economy grew at a 3.3% clip, up from the 1.9% annual growth rate first reported last month. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com were expecting GDP to be revised up to 2.7% in the quarter. The GDP is the broadest measure of the nation’s economic activity.

Economic growth between 2.5% and 3.5% is typically viewed as the norm for a healthy economy.

...which CNN buried in the business section instead of on the top of US News (where it belongs) because it doesn't fit with the doom and gloom economic message that the democrats are pushing at their convention.

A glimpse at what you can expect if Obama becomes President

Confederate Yankee points out that candidate Barak H. Obama has no respect for the First Amendment.

Obama's campaign has previously threatened broadcasters who would carry an ad linking Obama to Ayers, and has also asked the Department of Justice to shut down the group that made the ad.

The intense campaign to silence dissenting voice has also included a recent campaign email asking Obama supporters to deluge Chicago-based broadcaster WGN with complaints to pressure the radio station to cancel an appearance by Stanley Kurtz, a writer with National Review who is researching the documents of the Chicago Annenburg Challenge.

The Challenge, co-founded by Ayers and chaired by Obama, took tens of millions dollars in grant funds and public and private matching funds with the stated goal of increasing the quality of education in Chicago. The program was utterly ineffective, and some critics are suggesting that the challenge was little more than a slush fund for left-wing radicals. At least $175,000 was funneled to Ayers' friend, SDS radical, Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) (CPML) chairman and Barack Obama supporter Mike Klonsky's Small School Workshop.

That disregard for the Constitution with the power of the Executive Branch is frighting.

In the democrats own words

They don't want the truth

A Republican in Hollywood lets you in on the overwhelming anti-American groupthink that infests Hollywood:

I'm a Republican. A heretofore secret Hollywood Republican. I know men and women who are heavy drug addicts and they have no problem finding employment in Hollywood. I know men and women who are gambling addicts and they work pretty regularly. There's even a director who was arrested for child molestation and yet was hired by Disney - yes, Disney - to helm a picture, and people defended this decision by saying even child molesters have a right to work. I would bet my bottom dollar that all these people are on the correct side of the political spectrum. They are liberal democrats.
Let's be clear about one thing. Hollywood people are glamorous. But that's about it. They are ill informed about jihad. They are ill informed about Islam. They are ill informed about Israel, the PA, Iraq, Afghanistan. They are ill informed about U.S. history, the Constitution, etc. The truth is, the movie people I've met are ignorant about most everything - save the weekend grosses of the top ten films. That they know like human computers.
It is, I kid you not, a badge of honor in Hollywood to hate America. These airheads who have amassed millions through the free market economy constantly spout nonsense about the need for a Scandinavian style socialist government. They don't even know that the Scandinavian countries are economic basket cases. I'm not making this up. They actually cruise Sunset Strip in their Bentleys and accuse Republicans of being greedy.
You see, Democrats in Hollywood, and pretty much everywhere, are not satisfied with debating the rights and wrongs of issues. It always comes down to personal attacks. Republicans are not just wrong, we're evil.
Last year the Dutch film director Theo Van Gogh was murdered in Holland at the hands of Islamic extremists. It was a gruesome murder. There was not one word of protest from the Hollywood community. Because of liberal political correctness, the 2002 version of Tom Clancy's "The Sum of All Fears" transformed Palestinian terrorists into European neo-Nazis.

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has been leaning very heavily on Hollywood the past few years and the film industry is, frankly, terrified. According to CAIR, not a single Muslim should ever be portrayed as a terrorist on film, reality be damned.

The sad truth is that behind the dashing and courageous Hollywood characters up on the screen sit a bunch of cowards. A group of craven men and women who have little love for this country and who have no idea that Islamic terrorists are working hard to bring down the foundations of civilization.

Inserting some reality

...into the far left liberal democrat attack ads.

Popular Mechanics, explains why domestic drilling will actually play a key role in future American energy needs.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

democrats have to lie.

I'm watching the democrat on deck before Hillary doing what they do best, lying.

The democrats have to lie about Senator John McCain's energy policy, because their so called "policy" doesn't add up.

The democrats are pushing their Big Lie that Senator John McCain's comprehensive energy policy consists of only domestic drilling.

Senator McCain's policy isn't just about domestic drilling. Domestic drilling is part of his comprehensive plan that also includes, clean safe nuclear energy, conservation, renewable sources such as wind, solar, and other domestic sources such as natural gas, coal and shale oil. Energy independence is the of Senator McCain's goal. Barak H. Obama's goal is holding American hostage to the far left.

The Obama fantasy
rules out domestic drilling, shale oil, and clean safe nuclear energy.
The Obama fantasy wants to put more electric cars on the road while reducing America's electric consumption.

Obama is hoping that those people who vote for him are ignorant on the facts and bad at math.

Bad news for Barak

More than half of Clinton backers still not sold on Obama.

In the survey, taken Thursday through Saturday, 47% of Clinton supporters say they are solidly behind Obama, and 23% say they support him but may change their minds before the election.

Thirty percent say they will vote for Republican John McCain, someone else or no one at all.

The findings spotlight the stakes for Clinton when she addresses the convention Tuesday and when her name is placed in nomination.

Say what you want about Barak, but he is no Clinton.

Clintons have experience in running campaigns at a national level and have had to deal with tough, experienced opponents. Obama, like Kerry before him, never has had to run a seriously contested race outside of their home districts.

Fun times ahead in Denver

Politico reports that the Obama-Clinton feud is back in swing.

One senior Obama supporter said the Clinton associates negotiating on her behalf act like “Japanese soldiers in the South Pacific still fighting after the war is over.”

A prominent Obama backer said some of Clinton’s lieutentants negotiating with the Obama team are “bitter enders” who presume that, rather than the Clintons reconciling themselves to Obama’s victory, it is up to Obama to accommodate them.

In fact, some senior veterans of Clinton’s presidential campaign do believe this.

“He has not fully reconciled,” said one political operative close to the Clintons, “and he has not demonstrated that he accepts the Clintons and the Clinton wing of the party.”

Shifting democrat standards, Part II

In the continuing saga of shifting democrat standards, Alphecca nails their hypocrisy:

Last time ’round the Democratic nominee was John Kerry, who married into the Heinz fortune and had vacation homes all over the place. Now, Democrats are trying to demonize McCain because he married wealth and has homes all over the place. Do they have any idea how hypocritical they sound? And what the ‘eff does any of this have to do with issues people actually care about?

Follow the Money!

In yet another episode of Follow the Money!, we have a tangled web of corruption involving Barak Obama, Michelle Obama, the University of Chicago Medical Center, where Michelle Obama worked as a vice-president until recently, and a major Barack Obama donor.

Share and enjoy...

As I said before, any pick VP pick Barry make isn't going to reverse is downward trend in the polls. Hillary might have. I couldn't see him doing that. Having her, her staff, and even worse, Billy Jeff, in his White House, would be a living Hell.

Let's review his pick. There is some video evidence of just what Joe Biden really really thinks of the top of the democrat ticket.

Yup, Joe Biden is on the record supporting Senator John McCain over Barak Hussein Obama. Another typical DNC hack job vetting Biden.

I also question Obama's timing. He sent out his "announcement" at 3AM. Nice way to continue to piss off the PUMAs. The Hillary supporters are not going to overlook this slight in Denver and again in November.

Biden also voted for the Iraq War in 2002. How are the far left extremists who supported B. Hussein Obama and vilified Hillary for the same thing supposed to take this insult to them?

The choice of Biden is just another sign of yet another inexperienced rookie in hardball National politics at the top of the democrat ticket.

For those still drinking the WTC7 Troofer Kool-Aid (tm)

"W.T.C. 7 Brought Down by Fire, Not Explosives, Report Says."

"Heating of floor beams and girders caused a critical support column to fail... video and photographic evidence combined with detailed computer simulations show that neither explosives nor fuel oils played a rule in the collapse of that brought the building down."

Those barking moonbat troofers haven't let reality effect their thinking so far, so this probably isn't going to slow them down.

HT to Ms. Althouse.

PUMAs are on the prowl!

Hot Air reports:

Hillary Clinton’s supporters will not go quietly, it seems. According to a Scripps-Howard report this morning, unnamed backers of Hillary have begun a “massive” e-mail campaign insisting that she won more votes and is the only electable candidate in 2008. Perhaps, in consideration of the polling free-fall Barack Obama has experienced this summer, they may have a point (via TMV)

This should make for some interesting political theater in Denver.

Why is Barry acting nervous?

Barak H. Obama is acting a nervous for someone who just came off a vacation.
Let's review some possible reasons why.

...[Senator John] McCain now has a 9-point edge, 49 percent to 40 percent, over Obama on the critical question of who would be the best manager of the economy

LAT Poll Can Only Manage to Put Obama Up by 2 Among Registered (Not Likely) Voters

A ten point fall since their last poll, but their last poll was almost certainly bullshit in the first place (it "confirmed" Newsweek's ridiculous 15 point advantage -- but both outfits, having claimed that their polls were dead-on and not outliers or just plain goofs, now have to explain why this "huge lead" has now disappeared).

Zogby: McCain Makes a Move, Takes 5-Point Lead Over Obama. "Obama loses ground among Dems, women, Catholics & even younger voters."

According to RealClear Politics, Senator John McCain is taking the lead in Electoral College predictions.

Good thing he took a vacation or he would be even deeper in the hole.

I don't think any VP pick he makes can reverse this downward trend.

Most Europeans are ignorant on the facts...

Hmmm...that could be the reason Barak H. Obama is so popular there.
The UK Telegraph reports that "British attitudes towards the United States are governed by ignorance of the facts on key issues such as crime, health care and foreign policy"

A poll of nearly 2,000 Britons by YouGov/PHI found that 70 per cent of respondents incorrectly said it was true that the US had done a worse job than the European Union in reducing carbon emissions since 2000. More than 50 per cent presumed that polygamy was legal in the US, when it is illegal in all 50 states.
The survey showed that a majority agreed with the false statement that since the Second World War the US had more often sided with non-Muslims when they had come into conflict with Muslims. In fact in 11 out of 12 major conflicts between Muslims and non-Muslims, Muslims and secular forces, or Arabs and non-Arabs, the US has sided with the former group. Those conflicts included Turkey and Greece, Bosnia and Yugoslavia, and and Kosovo and Yugoslavia.

Asked if it was true that "from 1973 to 1990 the United States sold Saddam Hussein more than a quarter of his weapons," 80 per cent of British respondents said yes. However the US sold just 0.46 per cent of Saddam's arsenal to him, compared to Russia's 57 per cent, France's 13 per cent and China's 12 per cent.
Almost a third of Britons believe that "Americans who have not paid their hospitals fees or insurance premiums are not entitled to emergency medical care"; by law such treatment must be provided.

I think it is a pretty safe bet that a survey of American "liberals" would result in much of the same woefully ignorant answers.

How in the tank is the press for Obama

Well, when the Omnibudsman for the left leaning Washington Post says "...the disparity is so wide that it doesn't look good," they are in the tank pretty fucking deep.

Yup, most the MSM reporters are going to need a decompression chamber to come out that tank.

It's really bad at NBC. First it was Chris Matthew's "tingle" running up his leg. Now it's Andrea Mitchell spouting Obama campaign tin foil hat crybaby whining story over Senator John McCain handing Obama his ass the other other night.

Come on People! Barak H. Obama is only smooth in front of teleprompter! Be happy he only stumbled as much as he did. Senator McCain is a seasoned veteran of politics at the hard ball national (and international) level. Obama was fixing Chicago parking tickets a few years ago. That McCain handled the unscripted questions better was to be expected in the world of rational adults who pay attention. Oh, that must be way it caught the Obama camp and his supporters completely by surprise.

A Good etext reader for the iPhone

It’s called Bookshelf, and yes, it costs money. I found it worth the $10

It supports a wide range of formats including ASCII text, HTML, AportisDoc, unencrypted Mobipocket, rft & Word Docs (not docx).

I can access my Baen webscription account from it and download books directly as well as tapping their free etext library.

There is also a Java app that you can load on your computer in order to load books you already have from other sources.

So far, I’m really pleased. A good move by Baen to support this, since Mobipocket has been very quiet about exactly when they were going to produce an iPhone app.

First posted at Urbin Technology.

Who are the democrats afraid of?

Mitt Romney it seems. The DNC has gone negative early in response to their fears of his being a possible VP pick for Senator John McCain.

Confronting evil

In the Q&A session last night, Barak H. Obama listed "Darfur" as an example of evil, when asked if Evil should be confronted.

If you are going to "confront" Evil, you need to be honest about it. Darfur is a region of the slave trading nation of Sudan. The genocide is going on in Sudan, it is the government of Sudan that is allowing it, nay, supporting it.

By continuously referring to the Evil in Sudan using the term "Darfur" is intellectually dishonest and hiding the fact that the United Nations is ignoring the genocide in Sudan by keeping Sudan on the UN Human Rights Committee while its government is promoting genocide.

This buck obviously isn't going stop at Barak Obama either

democrat deja vu

An Obama mouthpiece is on Meet the Press (God, I miss Tim Russert) claiming that Barak H. Obama is for "middle class tax cuts."

I remember hearing the same thing from Billy Jeff Clinton back in 1992. The reality is that one of the first things he did (with a democrat congress) once he got in office was raise taxes across the board.

Given that Obama is long on speeches, short on details, except on how he plans on spending massive amounts of taxpayer dollars, I just can't put much trust in any solid tax cuts from him. He is also all over the place on just where on the income scale "middle class" and "rich" are.

McCain and Obama matchup

Interesting forum, Senator John McCain and Barry H. Obama are asked the same questions, but in an interesting twist, can't hear the answers of the other candidate.

Barak passes the buck with the "above my pay grade line." Hey Barry! Did you forget the words of that democrat President Harry "Give 'em Hell!" Truman? The. Buck. Stops. Here. when you are President. Anna feels that those four words may have sunk Obama's chances.

"Thus speaketh a buck-passer and not a leader."

DrewM at AoSHQ focuses on another one of Obama's gaffes.
Total absolute awesomeness...

Warren: Which sitting Supreme Court Justice wouldn't you have nominated?

Obama: Clarance Thomas. "I don't think that he was a strong enough jurist or legal thinker at the time".

He camethisclose to saying Thomas wasn't experienced enough. He actually swallowed the words 'an experienced jurist' but he stopped at "an exper..." and changed it to 'a strong enough'.

That was almost a lethal commercial in the making. Nice save Obambi.

The AoSHQ scoring gives this debate clearly to Senator John McCain. I guess that experience counts for something after all.

Update: American Sentinel also scores it for Senator McCain.

Additional Update: The Wall Street Journal compares Clarence Thomas' experience to that of first term Senator Barry H. Obama.
By the time he was nominated, Clarence Thomas had worked in the Missouri Attorney General's office, served as an Assistant Secretary of Education, run the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and sat for a year on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, the nation's second most prominent court.
Meanwhile, as he bids to be America's Commander in Chief, Mr. Obama isn't yet four years out of the Illinois state Senate, has never held a hearing of note of his U.S. Senate subcommittee, and had an unremarkable record as both a "community organizer" and law school lecturer. Justice Thomas's judicial credentials compare favorably to Mr. Obama's Presidential résumé by any measure. And when it comes to rising from difficult circumstances, Justice Thomas's rural Georgian upbringing makes Mr. Obama's story look like easy street.

Clearly, it is Obama, who comes up short on experience, which is the real reason Senator John McCain handled the questions so much better than Barry did. Any tin foil hat moonbat mutterings by Andrea Mitchell on the subject is just that, tin foil hat moonbat sour grapes mutterings.

Shifting democrat standards

It is interesting to watch the shifting standards for the office of President and Vice-President. Senator Quayle was attacked as being far too inexperienced to be on a Presidential ticket. He had completed two terms in the House and was on his second term in the Senate.

Obama, with fraction of that experience is now the democrat choice for the next President of the United States of America.

In 1992 and 1996, Clinton's lack of military experience (he was an admitted draft dodger and protested against the US military on foreign soil) was not an issue when he was running against US Military combat veterans.

In 2000 & 2004, the democrat candidate's military experience was touted as a key reason why they were more qualified to be Commander in Chief.

Now that the situation is reversed again, democrat operatives are claiming that military experience is a liability.

Barak Obama, like John Kerry before him, has never been involved in an election at a national level. Nor has he (or Kerry) ever had to run in an election where there was any serious competition (Obama actually won his first race by having the other democrat contenders removed from the primary ballot).

Denver will be interesting. The PUMAs are pissed and have a strong argument that Hillary Clinton is the more electable candidate in November.
Given that Hillary has conned Obama into giving both her and Billy Jeff speaking slots, the convention may end up being more about Bill and Hillary than Barak.

Remember that it is the Clinton's best interest if one of two things happen:

1. Hillary managed to obtain the nomination at the convention. Low probability, but they are probably working that angle.

2. Barak H. Obama loses to the much more experienced Senator John McCain. This gives Hillary another shot at the White House in 2012.

Follow the Money!

As the man who wrote the screenplay said, "Follow the Money."
In this case, the trail leads to the stink of corruption and democrat so-called "leader" Nancy "SanFran Nan" Pelosi.

By way of Absinthe & Cookies, comes this story of corruption and greed.

Under pressure from federal lawmakers concerned about high energy prices, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission proposed a rule prohibiting petroleum-market manipulation, giving the agency authority to levy fines of up to $1 million per violation a day.

Pelosi, who owns stock in CLNE, a company founded by T Boon Pickens and LIBERAL activist WR Hambrecht, stands to make MILLIONS on an $50,000 to $100,000 investment which may include anywhere from 3,000 to 22,000 shares, depending on the price she paid
Here is what is irrefutable. The company is valued at $632 MILL but if it succeed in its Proposition 10 proposal for California, it would increase its value at least tenfold and if the Pickens Plan, which calls for hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars, goes through its value could be increased a hundredfold!
Pelosi’s manipulation of the market is of a most decisive kind, she is using the excuse of “saving the planet” to refuse to allow the market, and not a central panning committee or government, to determine what kind of energy is produced where

Let's see who really runs the show in Denver.

The George Soros bought and paid for nutroots branch of the DNC think it will be their show.

Hillary Rodham Clinton and her posse have other plans.

Maureen Dowd hits the high points of the Clinton Master Plan.

She's amazed at how easy it was to snatch Denver away from the Obama saps. Like taking candy from a baby, except Beanpole Guy doesn't eat candy.
Now they've made Barry's convention all about them - their dissatisfaction and revisionism and barely disguised desire to see him fail. Whatever insincere words of support the Clintons muster, their primal scream gets louder: He can't win! He can't close the deal! We told you so!

Hillary's orchestrating a play within the play in Denver. Just as Hamlet used the device to show that his stepfather murdered his father, Hillary will try to show the Democrats they chose the wrong savior.

Her former aide Howard Wolfson fanned the divisive flames Monday on ABC News, arguing that Hillary would have beaten Obama in Iowa and become the nominee if John Edwards' affair had come out last year
Wednesday will be all Bill. The networks will rerun his churlish comments from Africa about Obama's readiness to lead and his South Carolina meltdowns. TV will have more interest in a volcanic ex-president than a genteel veep choice.

Obama also allowed Hillary supporters to insert an absurd statement into the platform suggesting that media sexism spurred her loss and that "demeaning portrayals of women ... dampen the dreams of our daughters."

Oh ya, there will be some great political theater in Denver this year.

But Wait! There's More! The Daily News reports that Hillary is bringing in her own hand picked propaganda team. Ok, she calls them a "video production team." ;-)
She's already snagged plum speaking gigs for herself, her husband and their daughter, so what else does Hillary Clinton want at the Denver convention?

Her own production team for the introductory video.

Democratic officials told the Daily News Wednesday that the video preceding Hillary's Aug. 26 prime-talk talk will be produced by Arkansas pals Harry Thomason and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason
Harry Thomason is the more controversial of the pair: he was involved in the firing of White House travel office employees in President Clinton's first term, testified before a grand jury investigating the Monica Lewinsky scandal and lobbied Bill Clinton to pardon two Arkansas men in the final hours of his presidency.

Will Barak even know what hit him?

The democrat's own 'Gitmo' in Denver

The local CBS news team in Denver has a story on the barbed wire topped warehouse cells the Denver police plan on using during the democrat national convention.

Inside are dozens are metal cages. They are made out of chain link fence material and topped by rolls of barbed wire.
Each of the fenced areas is about 5 yards by 5 yards and there is a lock on the door. A sign on the wall reads "Warning! Electric stun devices used in this facility."

"Very bare bones and very reminiscent of a political prisoner camp or a concentration camp," said Zoe Williams of Code Pink.
"That's how you treat cattle," said Adam Jung of the group Tent State University. "You showed the sign where it said stun gun in use and you just change the word gun for bolt and it's a meat processing plant."

So the leftist protesters are getting a preview of how they will be treated if they don't march in lockstep with George Soros bought and paid for wing of the DNC.

LA racing to be part of the third world

By way of Ace is this sad story about the LA City Council telling businesses that they have no property rights:

The age of the Chinese Gymnasts

The NY Times wouldn't touch the Edwards story, but they are reporting on the age question of the Gold Medal winning Communist Chinese "women’s" gymnastics team.

In Chinese newspaper profiles this year, He was listed as 14, too young for the Beijing Games.

The Times found two online records of official registration lists of Chinese gymnasts that list He’s birthday as Jan. 1, 1994, which would make her 14. A 2007 national registry of Chinese gymnasts — now blocked in China but viewable through Google cache — shows He’s age as “1994.1.1.”

Another registration list that is unblocked, dated Jan. 27, 2006, and regarding an “intercity” competition in Chengdu, China, also lists He’s birthday as Jan. 1, 1994. That date differs by two years from the birth date of Jan. 1, 1992, listed on He’s passport, which was issued Feb. 14, 2008.
The other gymnast, Jiang, is listed on her passport — issued March 2, 2006 — as having been born on Nov. 1, 1991, which would make her 16 and thus eligible to compete at the Beijing Games.

A different birth date, indicating Jiang is not yet 15, appears on a list of junior competitors from the Zhejiang Province sports administration. The list of athletes includes national identification card numbers into which birth dates are embedded. Jiang’s national card number as it appears on this list shows her birth date as Oct. 1, 1993, which indicates that she will turn 15 in the fall, and would thus be ineligible to compete in the Beijing Games.

The bottom line is that those kids are exactly as old as the Communist Chinese government says they are. When they were actually born has nothing to do with it.

The International Olympic Committee also doesn't have the balls to call the Communist Chinese government on it.

Update: For those of you too young to remember that whole Cold War thing, here is a Public Service Announcement:

It is pretty much expected that the Communist countries will cheat early and often.

We now return you to what ever reality you were comfortably enjoying.

Why are liberals afraid to debate?

First you have Barak H. Obama going into hiding to avoid keeping his "promise" to debate Senator John McCain "anytime and anyplace."

Next, you have Call me Ahab pointing out that leftist, anti-Civil Rights gun grabbers also fear any sort of open and honest debate. No surprise there.

You want to know the real reason why the pro-gun side is winning the battle for hearts and minds in the US - why over 70% of Americans believe that the 2nd Amendment confers and individual right to keep and bear arms, and why the Supreme Court upheld that?

A big part of it is that pro-gun people are willing to have open debate, right out there in the air. You can compare and contrast the fact that the Students for Concealed Carry’s first annual convention featured Paul Helmke. That’s righ, SCCC invited Helmke to be on one of their panels; admittedly he spent most of the time getting his ass handed to him by John Lott, but that’s okay. The fact that pro-gun people aren’t afraid of our positions and are more than willing to invite anti-gun activists to argue the issue on its merits speaks a lot about our movement.

Meanwhile, anti-gun people ban pro-gun activists from commenting, delete comments from their blogs, and generally avoid open debate like cockroaches avoid the light. I will give Paul Helmke props in that he was willing to attend that function, that was pretty out of character for an anti-gunner to do that.

The real story.

Let us keep in mind that the real story isn't that democrat candidate for President cheated on his cancer stricken wife and lied to the American public. Hell, since Billy Jeff Clinton lowered the bar on screwing around, cheating on your wife is considered Presidential behavior in leftist democrat circles.

The real story is the DNC/MSM deliberately ignored the story for so long.

They were quick to publish rumors about Senator McCain and a blond lobbyist, even through they admitted they were rumors, but sat on a much firmer story about democrat presidential candidate John "Silky Pony" Edwards.

The question now being raised is if the DNC/MSM media blackout over John Edwards and his blond mistress cost Hillary Rodham Clinton the win in Iowa?

If Hillary had won Iowa, which she probably would have if the "independent media" was doing their job and exposed Edwards for the lying adulterer that he is, Obama would have never picked up the early momentum he rode to victories in mostly caucus states.

You can bet that the PUMAs are going to pick up on this. Things may get interesting in Denver.

Good News

Senior Al Qaeda Commander Killed in Pakistan

Senior Al Qaeda commander Abu Saeed al-Masri has been killed in recent clashes with Pakistani forces in a Pakistani region near the Afghan border, a security official told Reuters on Tuesday.

Fitzmas has finally arrived!

It's not what the moonbats were expecting though!
JammieWearingFool reports:

Massachusetts democrat governor Deval Patrick is planning on shooting the state economy in the back of the head by raising taxes through the roof.

Meanwhile corruption continues in the Peoples Commonwealth

Just as Gov. Patrick was close to shaking his “Cadillac Deval” image, his administration has disclosed that more than 500 state employees get to cruise home in gassed-up, state-owned vehicles, among them elevator inspectors, a tree climber and a bridge painter.

With gas hovering at around $4 a gallon and the state facing a billion-dollar deficit, administration spokesman Kyle Sullivan, responding to a Herald public records request, released a list of a whopping 501 officials and employees with take-home vehicles paid for by taxpayers.
The sheer size of the state’s take-home vehicles struck fiscal watchdog Michael Widmer as an eye-popping expense as state officials face a crippling budget shortfall.

“With the state running a billion-dollar deficit, every dollar counts,” said Widmer, president of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Association. “It’s time for a review of vehicle usage when you have that many being taken home.”

Follow the Money

As the man who wrote the screenplay said, "Follow the Money."

The Man Who Paid Off Edwards’ Mistress Is Now Fund Raising For Obama.

ABC News reports:

The Dallas Morning News over the weekend profiled Fred Baron, the chairman of Sen. John Edwards’ campaign finance committees in both his 2004 and 2008 presidential campaigns.

Baron also, as you may know, has been paying significant lumps of cash to Edwards’ former mistress Rielle Hunter, and others involved in the scandal.

Baron claims Edwards knew nothing about it, and Edwards told ABC News Friday the same.

The article states that Baron is currently “raising money for nominee-to-be Barack Obama.”

One thing you should have learned about this is that the truth is just not in democrat John Edwards.

The silence of the "Anti-War" left.

TigerHawk points out what those who pay attention already know.
The so called "anti-war" left is only against the American liberating the oppressed.

When their Russian heroes unilaterally invade a sovereign nation in a clear "blood for Oil" war, they are predictably silent.

Of course, the Russians have no meaningful justification under international law, far less than the imperfect case the United States and its coalition built to justify regime change in Iraq.

That caused me to wonder, where are the anti-war groups?

Well, as of this morning, you can find no mention of the war on A.N.S.W.E.R.'s home page. The group is addressing many other pressing matters, but apparently not the unremitting attack on Georgia. Code Pink? Nyet. Democracy Now!, which is a left-wing media group, has lots of news about American wars on its web page but nothing about Russia or Georgia. Nothing from the comrades at Peace Action. Stop the War Coalition? What war? You can search the home pages of left-wing groups until the cows come home and not find anything on the Russo-Georgia war.

C'mon guys, Human Rights Watch -- to its credit -- was all over this on Saturday with a boilerplate press release (although you would not know it from the scant press coverage it received, neither Israel nor the United States being involved). The least you can do is copy that one.

So far, at least, it is safe to conclude that these organizations are not so much anti-war as they are anti-American and anti-Israeli. It is useful to clear that up. And, by the way, if they decide to organize massive anti-war rallies against Russia and belatedly reveal themselves as intellectually honest, I will be the first to say so.

300+ illegal aliens registered to vote in Bexar County TX

That is over three hundred violations of every American Citizen's basic Civil Rights.
Sadly, my own State Senator voted against a bill to require ID to cast a vote here in the Peoples Commonwealth. Valid ID is needed to buy a cell phone, purchase effective allergy medicine, and to rent a DVD from Blockbuster. Here in the liberal Bizzaro World, that's ok, but protecting basic Civil Rights is right out.

Ok, back to Texas:

...In a review of the past six years, Callanen said 330 undocumented people had registered to vote, and that 41 of them had voted — even though they later acknowledged they were not U.S. citizens.

The 330 people had received jury duty summons cards because their names were culled from the county's voter registration rolls.

Callanen said 41 people admitted voting, some in multiple elections, between 2001 and 2007. Each one said they were unaware they could not register or vote...

... Republican legislators in a number of states, including Texas, have tried repeatedly to toughen the law by requiring voters to present one or more forms of identification. They say it is necessary to preserve the integrity of elections.

Democrats generally oppose such ballot security measures — calling them a back door effort to disenfranchise the elderly and minorities, who traditionally vote Democratic and who tend not to carry multiple forms of identification with their picture...

Illegal aliens voting in US elections. A liberal democrat wet dream come true.
At the same time, democrats want to deny basic Civil Rights to serving members of the US Military.

Hiding may be Obama's best bet

With Senator John McCain rising the polls, Barak Obama is going into hiding under the guise of a 'family vacation' in Hawaii.

As Rob at SayAnything points out, "People tend to like the idea of Barack Obama a lot more than the reality."

When the key centrist voters who are going to decide the election, look closely at Obama, they aren't liking what they see.

Getting out of the harsh light of reality is perhaps Obama's best bet for getting his numbers up. It also gives him an excuse to keep avoiding debates with Senator John McCain.

Hiding from the American people and the press also saves Obama the embarrassment of answering questions about his possible VP pick John "Silky Pony" Edwards. Questions that he never had to answer because of the DNC/MSM's news black out on the Edwards sex scandal.

Russia invades Georgia

While the focus of the world press is on China and the Olympics (Kudos to the US Women's Saber team for their medal sweep), the Russians unilaterally invaded the sovereign nation of Georgia.

Here is my theory on the Russian invasion. The Russian military is targeting the oil pipelines that run through Georgia. With summer running down, disrupting that flow of energy to the West will increase the value of Russian oil. It will also increase the influence Russia will have over Europe as the temperatures drop.

Update: AoSHQ points out the differences between Obama and Senator John McCain on this issue. Winner: Senator John McCain.

A Conservative Republican speaks his mind

“America is not better than everybody else, America IS everybody else”

A Blast From The Past

Substitute the Marxists and Gaianists for the Catiline Conspiracy and this would pretty much cover the situation of today:

When, O Catiline, do you mean to cease abusing our patience? How long is that madness of yours still to mock us? When is there to be an end of that unbridled audacity of yours, swaggering about as it does now? Do not the nightly guards placed on the Palatine Hill—do not the watches posted throughout the city—does not the alarm of the people, and the union of all good men—does not the precaution taken of assembling the senate in this most defensible place—do not the looks and countenances of this venerable body here present, have any effect upon you? Do you not feel that your plans are detected? Do you not see that your conspiracy is already arrested and rendered powerless by the knowledge which every one here possesses of it? What is there that you did last night, what the night before— where is it that you were—who was there that you summoned to meet you—what design was there which was adopted by you, with which you think that any one of us is unacquainted?

Shame on the age and on its principles! The senate is aware of these things; the consul sees them; and yet this man lives. Lives! aye, he comes even into the senate. He takes a part in the public deliberations; he is watching and marking down and checking off for slaughter every individual among us. And we, gallant men that we are, think that we are doing our duty to the republic if we keep out of the way of his frenzied attacks.

You ought, O Catiline, long ago to have been led to execution by command of the consul. That destruction which you have been long plotting against us ought to have already fallen on your own head.

What? Did not that most illustrious man, Publius Scipio, the Pontifex Maximus, in his capacity of a private citizen, put to death Tiberius Gracchus, though but slightly undermining the constitution? And shall we, who are the consuls, tolerate Catiline, openly desirous to destroy the whole world with fire and slaughter? For I pass over older instances, such as how Caius Servilius Ahala with his own hand slew Spurius Maelius when plotting a revolution in the state. There was—there was once such virtue in this republic, that brave men would repress mischievous citizens with severer chastisement than the most bitter enemy. For we have a resolution of the senate, a formidable and authoritative decree against you, O Catiline; the wisdom of the republic is not at fault, nor the dignity of this senatorial body. We, we alone,—I say it openly, —we, the consuls, are waiting in our duty.

The return of Hillary Rodham Clinton

By way of Fox News:

[Hillary Rodham] Clinton said that her delegates want to have a role and feel that their “legitimacy is validated,” before the group moves forward to back Obama.

“I happen to believe that we will come out stronger if people feel that their voices were heard and their views respected. I think that is a very big part of how we actually come out unified,” Clinton, D-N.Y., said to applause.

“Because I know from just what I’m hearing, that there’s incredible pent-up desire. And I think that people want to feel like, ‘OK, it’s a catharsis, we’re here, we did it, and then everybody get behind Senator Obama.’ That is what most people believe is the best way to go,” she said.
But several of Clinton’s supporters are insistent that the former first lady get a vote on the convention floor. One self-identified delegate at the California fundraiser said a petition had been formed to put Clinton’s name on the ballot.

Remember that the margin that Barak Obama beat Hillary Clinton by in the elected/caucused delegates is smaller than the number of the democrat party overseers, also known as the so-called "Super Delegates."

It is those democrat Party Overseers/Uber-Delegates that are going decide who is the democrat nominee, not the democrat primary voters (more of which voted for HRC than BO).

Perhaps those democrat Party Overseers are noticing that Barak H. Obama isn't going anywhere in the polls. In fact it is Senator John McCain who got a boost in the polls after Obama's European tour.

Hillary's supporters are pointing this out, and perhaps HRC is making some quiet phone calls too.

Obama says something dumb, then calls his opponents ignorant.

Barak H. Obama did a fairly typical thing for him, he said something that the DNC/MSM would have been all over Dan Quayle for.

In this case he claimed that properly inflating car tires would save as much oil as domestic oil drilling. A claim that is monumentally wrong. Of course he's getting mocked for it. It was wrong and showed a dangerous ignorance in someone who is claiming to be able to solve America's energy policy.

Now Barak H. Obama is engaging in typical democrat behavior, he is lying about what he said. He is now claiming that properly inflating car tires will save 2-3% in fuel costs. That statement is accurate. It is not what he first claimed.

To make it worse, Obama is claiming that his opponents are "ignorant" for mocking his original statement, which was flat out wrong and painfully ignorant.

Sadly this is typical behavior for the Obamessiah. He refuses to admit any possible fallacy or mistake in his doctrine.

Obama also refuses to admit that energy policy is complex and requires multiple solutions, including domestic drilling, Clean Safe Nuclear Power, Wind, Solar, Conservation and other alternate sources.

Barak Obama and the rest of the far left extremist democrats refuse to consider domestic drilling and Nuclear Power. They would rather see the American economy tank.

Going to Barak Obama's base.

George Clooney is hosting a fundraiser for Barak H. Obama.
He is holding in a stronghold of Obama supporters, Geneva, Switzerland.

Makes sense. Obama pontificates before massive crowds in Europe, while his poll numbers are dropping the in US.

Good thing, only US citizen are supposed to vote in American elections. The democrats are doing their best to change that, but for now, it is still law of the land.

McCain at a motorcycle rally

Many people on both sides of the political spectrum are having fun with Senator John McCain's recent appearance at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

What isn't getting a lot of press is that the attendees, who cover a wide range of professions (one of the other instructors at the Martial Arts school I teach at is there), listened to what Senator McCain had to say.

I can't imagine Barak H. Obama, that product of the Harvard Law School, even considering showing up at a motorcycle rally.

If he does so now, it will be an obvious attempt to cover up his Ivy League elitism. A trait he shares with his wife.

New books out...

In the interest of "equal time", let's look at the left's latest BDS hit piece by Ron Suskind. As the Confederate Yankee points out, it only works because history is not the strong point of most leftists.

According to author Ron Suskind (who shockingly, is trying to sell a book to the "Bushitler" base) the Bush Administration ordered the CIA to forge and backdate a document that would be used as false pretenses to help justify the Iraq War.

According to Suskind, the forged letter written to justify the invasion was released in December, 2003.

But the war began 9 months prior to the release of the document in the media, meaning they would have forged a document they didn't use for its intended purpose.

His "false pretenses" motive is obviously wrong.

Now let us mosey over to the Right side of the reading room to get the story the liberal media won't touch. An honest, truthful look at Barak H. Obama.

First we have The Obama Nation. This book goes beyond the "Cult of Personality" and takes a deep, detailed look at the history behind the Chicago democrat Machine politician. Before the lefties start screaming, note that the author has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University. Hardly a hotbed of right wing politics.

Next is The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media's Favorite Candidate.
A look behind the curtain the DNC/MSM is trying to draw to hide the far left agenda and background of Barak Hussein Obama. Who, less we forget, has a fraction of the experience that Dan Quayle had when he first ran for Vice-President in 1988.

These books about Obama will bring up the facts that Chris Matthews and the rest of the Obama fan club in the DNC/MSM never will.

Pelosi listens to no one...

Nancy Pelosi has a twitter account.

She follows no one.

She'll tell you what to think.

Jon Stewart mocks Obama

Jon Stewart points out the “Racial Paranoia” of the Obama campaign.

democrat William "Cold Cash" Jefferson is still in congress

The democrat Culture of Corruption is still rolling along strong.
Example: Congressman William "Cold Cash" Jefferson is still a member of Congress, with the support of the democrat party.

Michelle Malkin reports:

Intrepid Jason Mattera is back with another Hot Air/Young America’s Foundation joint production from Capitol Hill.

He asked Democrat Rep. William “Cold Cash” Jefferson, the accused freezer cash-stashing subject of a 16-count criminal indictment whose public corruption trial is scheduled for Dec. 2, for some handy storage advice and an autograph last week.

Rep. Jefferson refused to provide either.

Why can't Obama just tell the truth?

Ok, so Obama lied when he said he would debate Senator John McCain "anytime, anyplace."

Now the Obama campaign can't tell the truth when running attack ads against Senator John McCain.

It seems that the truth and Barak H. Obama are incompatible.

Debating Obama Matrix Style!

With a touch of Star Wars thrown in for good measure.
Very funny and well done.

Angry PUMAs

The Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters are still angry over the hostile treatment they are still getting from the DNC and the Obama faithful.

Obama and the First Amendment

It appears that Barak H. Obama and his campaign staff are not big fans of the Free Speech clause of the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America.

Barack Obama Campaign IP’s caught shutting down Anti-Obama Blogs

At least one of the attacks in the latest wave of blog shutdowns this past week came from IPs assigned to barackobama.com.

We have reported twice in the last two weeks about the attacks on anti-Obama websites. ["Google, Blogger, Obama: Obamanation Shut Down My Blog!"]] & [BabbaZee's "Anti-Obama Blogs Shut Down by Google, Obamabots"]

Speculation on who was behind the attacks has ranged from “Obama supporters” to “it’s no one, just a glitch” “to “it’s a browser problem”. [Site Meter causing Internet Explorer failure ]. This latter is a completely different issue from the blogs that got shut down by Google/Blogger.

A few liberal blogs and Instapundit have said there is no connection between this latest wave of blog shutdowns and the Obama camp.

Speculation can now be set aside–at least, in one instance.

The Arrogance Express continues Full Steam Ahead

...or how Barak H. Obama is spending the money his adoring masses are sending him.

According to this CBS News report, he is, to use a technical MTV term, "pimping his ride."
Translated into English, the Obama campaign 757 aircraft has been refitted with "four individual chairs that resemble La-Z-Boys" and after flying 'Obama Air, "Air Force One may seem a tad claustrophobic.”

Wait, it gets better. The "La-Z-Boy" reserved for Barak H. Obama himself, has the word "President" stitched into the headrest...

What is Obama afraid of? Part II

Barak Obama once said that he would debate Senator John McCain 'any time, any place'.

That was clearly a lie. Obama has backed away from multiple Town Hall debates with Senator John McCain.

Democratic candidate Barack Obama on Saturday backed away from rival John McCain's challenge for a series of joint appearances, agreeing only to the standard three debates in the fall.

In May, when a McCain adviser proposed a series of pre-convention appearances at town hall meetings, Obama said, "I think that's a great idea." In summer stumping on the campaign trail, McCain has often noted that Obama had not followed through and joined him in any events.

Obama's reversal on town hall debates is part of a play-it-safe strategy he's adopted since claiming the nomination and grabbing a lead in national polls. Advisers to the Illinois senator, speaking on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss strategy, say Obama is reluctant to take chances or give McCain a high-profile stage now that Obama's the front-runner.

Well, Obama is no longer a 'front runner.' Why is he afraid to debate John McCain.

Sunday Morning Talk Shows

Former democrat operative George Swaythepopulas gave democrat Speaker of the House "San Fran Nan" Pelosi (Worst. Speaker. Ever.) free rein to spout her talking points.

Meet the Press had Senator Lieberman (moderate, sane democrat and McCain supporter) debating Senator John Kerry (far left democrat billionaire who only pays federal tax at a 12% rate, and Barak H. Obama supporter).

Update: democrat Tom Daschle, a major Obama supporter, is on Fox News Sunday. Daschle is a lying weasel. He always has been, always will be. Daschle lies boldly and with a straight face. The truth is not part of that man's genetic makeup.

The lone Right of Center member of the Meet the Press round table made a what is probably a highly accurate prediction. He predicted that Hillary Clinton will make a good speech at the DNC, not a great speech, but a good speech. Then, in November, she will vote for John McCain.
That does make sense based on her over riding goal to take control of the White House. Her best bet to inflict her socialist policies on America is to run in 2012. She needs Senator John McCain to win in 2008 for that to happen.

Check the temperature in Satan's summer cottage. Juan Williams is agreeing with Bill Kristol on how Obama screwed the pooch by repeatedly playing the race card.

A message to the RNC

If you want my money, stop building bridges to nowhere, stop wasting taxpayer money on pork barrel projects like drunken democrats (although the democrats have proved once again that they are better at it), and start playing hardball minority party tactics like Pelosi did to you.

Call the media on their far left bias, use the Internet effectively (like you finally did when Pelosi shut off the lights to kill any domestic drilling bills) and don't be afraid to point out that during the six years of President Bush and a Republican congress, gas prices rose $0.11 a year, under the Pelosi/Reid congress it shot up by $0.66 a year.

Buy a full page ad in the NY Times. If they won't sell it to you, have every Republican member of Congress state that every time they are in front of a camera or talking to a print journalist (or bloggers!).

Grow a pair, and point out how many democrats in Congress are members of the Democrat Socialists of America.

Update: By way of Leslie Bates, Michelle Malkin chimes in on the subject.

“Hit hard, hit fast, hit often.”

That was the advice Marine hero Chesty Puller gave his men.

That’s the advice congressional Republicans should follow.
So, now what?

House Republicans hit hard and hit fast on Friday. Come Monday, they need to hit again and hit often during the Democrats’ vacation.
The House GOP’s 8/1 revolt wasn’t merely good political theater. It was good politics. Politics on offense. Politics the grass-roots can get behind. Energized politics on energy that will galvanize public opinion in the otherwise lazy, dog days of August.

Pelosi shuts out the lights and leaves America in the Dark

"San Fran Nan" Pelosi, the so-called "leader" of the House democrats shut off the lights and commanded the democrats to leave the House of Representatives without addressing any of the important energy bills on the floor.

The Republican members of the House grew a pair and protested.
Scott's Morning Brew explains how they got to word out after Pelosi shut down the CSPAN cameras in order to keep American from finding out what she did.

What exactly is Speaker Pelosi afraid of? Everyone knows she’s a complete failure. What is left to hide?

Does social media have a valid role in politics?

After today’s events, I believe that question has been answered.

With the Democrats voting to adjourn the House without voting on an energy bill, the Republicans stayed on the floor until Capitol Police began escorting them out.

How did social media play a part? Pelosi had shut down all the cameras in the house including those on CSPAN. John Culberson (R-TX) began streaming video through QIK from his phone. (See: http://qik.com/video/147408)

Then others joined in. The search tag #dontgo was started and Twitter Search (http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23dontgo) and numerous people started reporting from inside and out the House.

I am not sure how many “Tweets” were sent out but I would guess in the THOUSANDS.

This entire event was captured and cataloged through Social Networking and Social Media outlets by the people directly involved in the action.

It should be clear to everyone that social media is a valuable tool.

But equally clear to everyone, should be the priorities of the Democrats. Pelosi wanted to go on vacation and promote her book more than she wanted to do the work the people put her in Washington to do. Her priorities are clearly skewed and clearly self promoting.

That’s just plain infuriating. The worst Speaker in this history of this country. Absolutely the worst.

Worst. Speaker. Ever.

Update: One MSM outlet covers this story, and it ain't CNN, who is rather silent on Pelosi's utter failure of hre "leadership" role.

Update: More at Hot Air and Flopping Aces.

CNN finally decides to cover the story.

When the base attacks!

African American protesters heckle Obama

To be fair, a lot of conservatives aren't very happy with Senator John McCain either.

democrats want higher gas taxes

It is official.

The democrats in Congress don't care if high energy prices destroy the US economy.

Republicans should use a very simple message. We have enough oil to satisfy American needs for at least the next 100 years, but Democrats won’t let you have it. They’d rather you pay $10 per gallon at the pump and watch food prices increase 250% rather than agree to drilling. If you don’t want $10 per gallon gas, vote Republican.

Movie previews

I've seen a couple of movies in the theater lately (Hellboy II, Dark Knight), but it is the previews I want to talk about.

First, a couple of remakes.

Death Race 2000 spawns Death Race. This 1975 Roger Corman classic starring David Carridine and Sylvester Stallone is being redone with Jason Statham (of Transporter) fame as the star driver.
This actually looks pretty good.

On the other hand, Keenu Reeves has been tapped to play Michael Rennie's role in the SciFi classic The Day the Earth Stood Still. This looks pretty awful.

Choose wisely

The words of Bandit Six:

So every four years we elect a king. Since people like consistency, we tend to elect the same king as many times as we can get away with. (See previous paragraph.) And the king, especially in any sort of emergency, has a lot of power. They don’t always, or even most of the time, have enough to fix things right away. But they’ve got a lot of power.
Including the power to totally screw things up.

For the kids reading this, this is a very important point. When you choose your king, forget most of the reasons you think you should vote for the king. Mostly, the king can’t do much about the economy but ruin it. They can’t make you richer or smarter (although they can manage the reverse). If you want one suggestion, think about all the contingencies under which that king (or queen in this case) may hold your lives in his or her hands. And choose wisely.

Obama plays the race card

Barak Obama has played the race card in his campaign early and often.
He's doing it again, projecting that race card on to the McCain campaign.

That is something the McCain campaign hasn't done. It has compared Barak H. Obama to Paris Hilton. That is nasty. Entirely true, but nasty.

Now, Barak H. Obama was the great "color blind" hope of the liberals. He was supposed to run a "race neutral" campaign.

Of course that hasn't happened. My current theory on this latest cry of racism is based on his poll numbers being stuck at the same level they were before his grand European tour.

A new CNN/Opinion Research poll out Wednesday shows that despite nine solid days of blanket media coverage from overseas with Barack Obama cheered by adoring throngs of Germans and parlez-vousing with the French, making a three-point shot in the Middle East and standing outside No. 10 Downing Street, the freshman Illinois senator is stuck right where he was in the polls before he left.

No bounce. Not even a roll.

Why no bounce? Why even the drop in the polls seen since returning from his European America bashing tour?

One explanation is that his stubbornness in not admitting the success of the Troop Surge in Iraq, and thus showing his desire for an American defeat at that hands of Islamofascists, is not playing well with centrist voters. Voters who opposed the Iraq war, but would rather see the US Military win a war vs losing one.

Perhaps it is that these centrist voters are asking questions about the rabid Barak Obama supporters who have posters of murdering communist thugs next to those of Obama.

Maybe it is that those centrist voters are noticing that it is the far left extremist Obama supporters who are actively attacking the First Amendment rights of any that dare oppose them.

It could be that centrist voters are noticing that Barak H. Obama is an empty suit with no real experience.

Most likely, it is all of the above.
