HRC forced into reaction mode.

Hillary Rodham Clinton announced her intentions to run for President in 2008.
Why so early in cycle? Well, here is my theory.

Barak Hussein Obama, the charismatic junior Senator from Illinois, recently announced his plans to run for President in 2008.
Prior to that the field was a bunch of democrat dwarves who stood no chance against the brutally efficient Clinton political machine.

Obama is young, charismatic and good looking. All things HRC is not.
Prior to his throwing his hat in the ring, Hillary Rodham Clinton could wait in the wings to be drafted as the savior of her party, and let Edwards, Dowd, and the rest of pack snipe at each other through out the early days of the run.

Now the Press has a black JFK figure (and the comparisons have been made early and often after his announcement) they can sell lots of papers and air time with. Hillary Rodham Clinton had to act fast to knock him out of the news cycle and get her back in the public eye.
You can bet that her announcement will be the main topic in the Sunday political talks shows tomorrow.
