A defeat right out of the gate.

Brand new Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (democrat - San Francisco) was handed a defeat from her own party on the first test of her leadership. Her pick for House Majority leader, John Murtha,an unindicted co-conspirator in the Abscam scandal of the 1970s, was defeated 149-86 by Congressman Hoyer.

This is also particularly embaressing to Murtha, who bragged to Chris Matthews on Hardball that he had enough votes to win.
This is also a slap in the face to Murtha and his "Cut & Run" policies from his own party. Not a good sign for the Kos Kiddies and other leftist extremist moonbats.

Oh, and about the Culture of Corruption thing:

Roll Call has stated that in early 2004, John Murtha “reportedly leaned on U.S. Navy officials to sign a contract to transfer the Hunters Point Shipyard to the City of San Francisco” and that “Laurence Pelosi, nephew of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, at the time was an executive of the company which owned the rights of the land.”

But that’s only the most recent chapter of Nancy Pelosi, John Murtha and San Francisco’s largest tract of undeveloped land.
